I Became What I Hated
Sexism is easy to hate. We assume feminism in reaction. Yet when we exempt ourselves from scrutiny we perpetuate the problem. To practice true feminism, we must abandon our learned stereotypes in effort to adopt health and equality. Feminism isn’t about women, the word itself is deceiving, female-centric; feminism is about equality. Why should women seek to be equal to men, when men are still impacted by systemic sexism? To truly move forward, we must end the system that teaches sexism and gender roles. We must start by confronting our own bias. Feminism starts there.
